Beer and Floating in Cherry Hill

Forgive the badly-barely-punned title, it's too nice a day and too gloriously lazy to come up with anything clever!
I'm poolside at Joe's parents' place in New Jersey, it's a gorgeous afternoon. And this is the actual "first taste of summer" we've yet had.
Follow up:
The sun is hot, the water feels great. We grilled burgers for lunch. It's a much-needed respite from the daily grind, and from the constant rain all last month, which was of course followed by that especially sucky kind of New England humidity that feels like a steam bath. Blech. Every summer I wonder why I'm still in New England when humidity just kills me...my head aches, I sweat just from the short walk to and from work. I shower like five times a day. I can't put on moisturizer because it beads up on my skinand feels gross. I guess what always happens is then fall comes, and fall in New England is just about the best and most invigorating thing ever, and I remember why I'm still in New England.
So this, the pool and the clear sunny skies and grillin' food? Heaven.
Yesterday was the big family picnic. I bonded with some of Jennifer and Joe's relatives back at the wedding shower, and it's a really nice reunion. A couple of the kids are out of control, so that can be a trial, but they're only at the house for a few hours. A person can stand anything for a few hours, even the little fucker who peeled all the bananas in the fruitbowl.
More about that kid later.
Right now Joe's mom is taking the baby out for a stroll, while Jen and munk are out running an errand. Me and Joey are sitting at the poolside table with his brother Jim and Trey, munk's 10 year old. LOTS of Batman talk going on...oh yes, life is good.
Happy summer, peeps!
